Field Reviewers (back to top)

Our field reviewers visit designated physicians' offices and perform extensive reviews of medical records for various projects and studies, then scan and upload certain portions of the charts (e.g., progress notes and diagnoses).

We will make your job easier by providing you with a personal scheduler to help you plan your daily activities - we will schedule and confirm all of your appointments to make your days as efficient as possible. We will also provide you with state-of-the-art equipment (including laptops and scanners) for scanning charts and transferring files to our secure file transfer site on the web. Finally, we provide 24-hour technical support.

We pay competitive wages. We also and provide thorough training in the use of our technology (laptops & scanners, web portal), required documents to be scanned or copied, and HIPAA training regarding patient confidentiality. Summary of Job Requirements
  • RN, LPN, coding certification, or at least five years direct experience with medical records.
  • RN, LPN, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and high-speed home internet access (not dial-up).
  • Reliable transportation, insurance and a valid driver's license.
  • Commitment to maintain complete confidentiality of patient health information.
  • Professional, articulate and able to work independently.
  • Availability of at least 20 hours per week during business hours.
  • Business attire required when visiting physician offices.

Certified Medical Coding Specialists (back to top)

Our Certified Medical Coding Specialists code medical information by studying patient chart documentation; analyzing, interpreting, and translating disease, injury, medical procedure, and therapy descriptions; and clarifying likely and inferable information.

Summary of Job Requirements

  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, and CCS-P certification status required;
  • Successful completion of a coding certificate program approved by AHIMA;
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a medical coder/abstractor;
  • Extensive knowledge of ICD-9-CM outpatient diagnosis coding guidelines (with knowledge and demonstrated understanding of CMS HCC Risk Adjustment coding and data validation requirements is preferred);
  • Ability to code using an ICD-9-CM code book (without using an encoder);
  • Strong clinical skills related to chronic illness diagnosis, treatment and management;
  • Reliability and a commitment to meeting tight deadlines (48-hour turnaround time on all assigned charts);
  • Willingness to work some weekends or evening hours to meet changing client goals;
  • Exemplary attention to detail and completeness - all medical coders must maintain 95% accuracy on all assignments;
  • Computer proficiency (including MS Windows, MS Office, and the internet) and high speed internet access.
  • Strong organization skills and an ability to work without direct supervision; and
  • Strong analytical skills.

Nurse Abstractors (back to top)

Outcomes has spent years building a strong team of registered and licensed practical nurses who perform medical chart abstractions according to NCQA guidelines for HEDIS. Most of our nurses return year after year and have become some of the leading experts in the field. Each year, as our business grows, we accept a limited number of new nurses to serve as Nurse Abstractors.

We pay competitive wages to our researchers, many of whom take leave from their regular jobs to work for us during HEDIS season (February through May each year). Nurse Researchers are able to work from home. Those with sufficient HEDIS experience are permitted to receive and complete their assignments via our secure website. If you have medical records experience, are professional and dependable, and can work autonomously, we invite you to join the most respected name in the industry.

We provide extensive training in the HEDIS measures and chart abstraction best practices, including annual refresher training for our returning nurses and HIPAA training regarding patient confidentiality. Our quality assurance staff also provides follow-up training to ensure at least 95% accuracy on all nurses' work. We also provide an abbreviated HIPAA training to all nurses.

Summary of Job Requirements

  • Active nursing license in good standing;
  • 3-5 years chart investigation experience (including QI, HEDIS, or other clinical audits);
  • Professional, articulate, independent worker with strong customer service skills;
  • Must have broadband internet access (cable or DSL), computer with current version of Windows operating system and Internet Explorer (version 6.0.2 or better); and
  • Successful participation in HEDIS Measures Training and proficiency testing.
